How to organise your bedroom

Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, but let’s face it, sometimes clutter can take over! From cleaning tips to savvy bedroom storage solutions, we're here to help you turn chaos into calm. So, let's roll up those sleeves and transform your bedroom!

Select and sort

Start by surveying your bedroom furniture and storage options – wardrobes, dressers, under-bed storage space, drawers, shelves, and any other nooks that could potentially house your belongings. Take note of what's currently being used and what remains unutilised.

Also find which items that seem to lack a designated home–perhaps it's the stack of books on the floor, stray accessories, or an overflowing wardrobe. You’ll need to keep these in mind when you start grouping items together.

Get set to store

Categorise your belongings: clothes, accessories, books, electronics, bedding, and any miscellaneous items. Assemble these into separate piles or sections, making it easy to see what you have to work with and plan your storage. Consider how often you access each group and designate accessible spots for frequently used belongings. Now’s the perfect time to donate any quality items you no longer want or need!

Clothes

Fold and store clothes neatly in drawers or consider drawer organisers for smaller items like socks and underwear. Use hangers for delicate or frequently worn items, arranging them by colour or season to make outfit selection a breeze. For those bulkier or seasonal items like puffers or coats, use vacuum-sealer bags or under-bed storage boxes to save space and keep them fresh until needed.

Accessories

For those pesky piles of accessories, a clear hanging organiser is a saviour for your wardrobe. Use the clear pockets to store bags, belts, scarves and more. Plus, if you're organising a kid's closet, it's perfect for stashing school hats, ties and more, making mornings smoother.

Shoes

Keep your footwear collection tidy and easily accessible with an over-the-door shoe storage unit. Maximise space and keep your footwear neatly organised and off the floor. For sneaker heads, you can stack and protect your shoes with clear shoe storage boxes. Slot the boxes into spare vertical space next to your wardrobe and keep your collection on display but out of the way.

If you're looking for a truly hidden shoe storage solution, opt for a shoe storage cabinet which looks right at home in the hallway.

Bedroom linen

Pack sheets, blankets, and pillowcases into storage tubs, keeping them easily accessible but neatly contained. Roll or fold your bedding to fit your tub and maintain a tidy appearance.

Books and electronics

Books can find a cosy home on bookshelves or in storage baskets. Sort books by genre or size for an aesthetic display, or use shelf dividers to keep groups of books together. Use decorative baskets for smaller electronic items like chargers, cables, or electronic accessories, keeping them tucked away yet accessible.

For larger electronics like tablets or laptops, designate a charging station with cable organisers to prevent tangled cords. A nightstand drawer is the perfect spot for frequently used electronic devices like smartphones or e-readers.

Stay consistent

Once you've decided on your storage solutions—be it baskets, shelves, drawers, or hanging organisers—stick to it! Maintain consistency in where you place specific items so you always know where to find what you need. Regularly returning items to their designated spots helps keep things clean and prevents clutter from creeping back in.
